Can Claude connect to Dropbox?

Yes. Dropbox has an official connector for Claude. Helm sets it up for your team with the right permissions, tested prompts and training, so people actually use it.

What is Dropbox?

Dropbox is a cloud file storage and sharing service that keeps files synced across computers and phones. It is a long-standing favourite with small businesses, creative studios and trades for sharing files with clients and contractors.

What Claude can do with Dropbox

Claude can read and update

  • Search files by name or content and read what is in them
  • Summarise a folder of invoices, contracts or reports
  • Find the latest version of a policy or template
  • Create new files and folders and organise files into them
  • Create share links to send files to clients or contractors

Who uses it

  • Bookkeepers

Have Claude find a quarter's supplier invoices and summarise GST amounts for BAS review.

  • Office managers

Ask Claude where the current version of a form or policy lives and share it with the right person.

  • Builders and trades

Find plans, quotes or site photos for a job without scrolling through folders.

What your team can ask Claude

  • “Find our FY25 supplier invoices and summarise the GST amounts and invoice dates for the BAS review.”
  • “Where's the latest staff policy and client onboarding pack, and are there older versions floating around?”
  • “Create a folder called FY26 BAS working papers and save a checklist of the files we should review.”
  • “Make me a share link for the final plans for 14 King Street so I can send them to the electrician.”
  • “Move last year's job folders into an Archive folder.”

How it connects

Dropbox has an official connector in Claude's directory. A Claude admin switches it on and each person signs in with their own Dropbox login, so Claude only sees what they're allowed to see. Helm handles the setup, checks the permissions and trains your team on what to ask.

Looking after your Dropbox data

Dropbox folders can contain financial records, contracts and personal files, so Helm limits Claude to the folders your team works from and has it confirm before moving or deleting anything.

  • Only the access you approve.
  • Everything stays in your own accounts.
  • On Claude's business plans, your data isn't used to train AI models.
