Can Claude read private Slack channels?

Claude can only read channels and messages the connected user already has access to. It cannot see private channels that person is not a member of.

Can Claude post messages in Slack?

Yes, Claude can send messages and create canvases. Many teams start with summaries and drafts and turn on posting once they are comfortable.

Is it safe to connect Slack to Claude?

How it connects

Slack has an official connector in Claude's directory. A Claude admin switches it on and each person signs in with their own Slack login, so Claude only sees what they're allowed to see. Helm handles the setup, checks the permissions and trains your team on what to ask.
